Panda’s new name

Oh, Panda!

Some of you know and some of you might not, but my little buddy Panda is actually named Bailey. I just call him Panda.

Which is probably pretty confusing for him. Luckily for me, I don’t care.

Ahahahahhaha. That was mean.

But a couple of months ago I said to myself, “Kerry. Why don’t you get that smelly little pile of fuzz a new name tag? Maybe he will be less confused!”

I don’t know if you’ve even used a pet-tag making machine before but they are really neat! And maybe you’re like, “Uhm, Kerry. You’re simple.” This may be the case. But if you aren’t finding joy in even the smallest things in life then what are you doing? You’re doing life wrong, that’s what you’re doing! And I just don’t have time to do it wrong.

Look how much happier he is!

Now, his new name tag was short lived. Only about 3 weeks. As it turns out, to change your pet’s name you have to get a new pet license from the town hall and update all of their medical records. Pfffft. No. So we had to switch back to the old tag. But for those 3 weeks, my Dad and I had a BLAST trying to see how long it would take my Mom to notice aha.

Next I’m going to get him one that says, “YOLO.” What would you change his name to?

Panda learns to drive.

With my parents away last weekend and no one to tell me, “No,” I thought I’d teach Panda to drive!

He had to stand on my lap because his feet don’t reach the pedals. Obviously.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Partly inspired by Brittany over at Shubette Handmade’s Week of Thanks series, I thought I would share some things that I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving :)

Time for more funny situations starring Panda?

Yes!

My parents are going away, and you know what that means…

I need some new ideas for where to put Panda!

He’s already been in most of the larger appliances and occasionally naps under the ottoman, but if you have any other ideas I’d love to hear them and hopefully I can make them happen!

A napping Panda

Took me a while to hunt down Panda last night. I finally found him:

places I find Panda

Sometimes I find Panda in strange places or doing strange things around the house. I wish I knew what he was thinking.

Here he is hanging out under my desk. He likes to sit under there when I’m working. And when I’m not home.

I don’t know if you can tell, but he’s hugging the pillow here. Shortly after I snapped this he fell asleep. He looked like a little kid clinging to a beloved toy. Or a beloved pillow, aha.

I think he likes to sit on top of this chair because he can 1) see out the window and 2) it gets a lot of sunlight and is warm.

But one time he fell off backwards and hurt his back. He couldn’t move for several days so we try to keep him off of the chair back.

He’ll sit in the doorway of my brother’s room and stare at a corner of the ceiling. He’ll sit on the shower mat while someone’s in the tub. Sometimes he hides under the foot stool with only his nose sticking out!

What sorts of funny things do your pets do?

panda in pajamas

My dog and I are basically BFF. I buy him toys, bring him for car rides, try to teach him tricks, and share my pizza with him. In turn, he perches on my back when I’m sleeping, leaves dead ticks in my bed, and chases me around trying to get my sandwich. If that doesn’t scream best friends, I just don’t know what does.

But Panda, he doesn’t like to be cold. He doesn’t like the wind or cold weather. He sleeps with a blanket in the winter and hides his head under it. If it’s raining he refuses to go outside because he’ll be cold AND wet. Yeeeeeks.

How do we solve this? He’s got a mini wardrobe. Sweaters and little t-shirts mostly. He has a puffy down vest, a yellow rain slicker, and that sweatshirt I made him. My brother got him a pink snuggy for Christmas one year.

Well, wouldn’t you know. I found dog pajamas!

I don’t consider this dog abuse. He has plenty of room to move around and be free, while at the same time staying warm and stylish.

I wish target had dog clothes all year instead of just at the holidays.

Look! He’s taking a nap!

Funny Situations starring Panda

Last year my parents went away around Christmas and this happened:

He also spent some time in a cabinet, the hamper, the dryer, and the dishwasher. I don’t know how it happened, and I don’t know who he got to take the pictures, but needless to say, it happened.

And there’s a lot of potential for more Funny Situations starring Panda this year!

If you were me, and you had a dog you called Panda, and Panda was very trusting of you, and Panda really liked cheese, and Panda would stay just about anywhere if he though cheese would get in his mouth, where would you put him?

Comment or email your suggestions now!

I love matching

But it’s hard to find people to match with.

It’s also getting colder (LOVE New England weather. Sweltering last week, sweatshirt to bed at night this week. I really do love the weather though). AND my dog also hates to be cold! Solution?

Make him a sweatshirt! I had two of the same, and one was getting a little ratty. Whoa, wait, WHAT?! Did I just say I had TWO?

Yep.

perching Panda

My dog likes to perch on people and things. If he finds you sleeping in bed, he’ll climb up on your back and sit down. If you’re in a chair he’ll try to get in your lap. He sits on the tops of chairs and sofas, like a cat, instead of on the cushion part. And once in a while he’ll take a nap under the foot stool.

But my FAVORITE is this:

My mom falls asleep on the sofa at night and Panda walks across her body like a sheep on a mountain range and settles down on her shoulders. And she sleeps through it!
