Another Wednesday Whale love!

Ever since I got those awesome towels for my birthday, I’ve had my eye out for more whale towels. I’m especially keen on these dish towels from Zen Threads:

(I’m pretty sure my friends got me a t-shirt from them for Christmas!)

Not that I’m in the market to buy any more fabric right now (since I have two overflowing bins), but this Maritime Moby is at the top of my must-have list.

Something about grays and yellows together always catch my eye. Also, the whales! Aha.

Pretty soon I’ll start looking for a new sweatshirt. I have a half dozen plain pull overs that I love, but it looks like H&M has stopped carrying them! Since mine are wearing out I have to start planning for the fall. I kind of like this one:

But I’m not sure if it’s too cutesie or if it’s too long. Or too expensive. I try not to spend more than $20 on a sweatshirt because I know I’m just going to destroy it, and this is almost double! I guess I have plenty of time to figure it out, but I know it’ll be cold again in no time!

Hope you’re having a fab Wednesday and that your week isn’t dragging on!

It’s Wednesday…

So you know it’s time for some whale love!

My Mom was nice enough to tell me that she doesn’t like Wednesday Whale Love because it’s boring.

So… Here are some neat things I found! (Click the pictures to bring you to the source).

Wednesday Whale Love!

So this one time I mostly forgot I had a blog… Not that you aren’t used to that by now. Am I right?!

Over a month ago, a reader sent me an email featuring an Ice Cream Whale Spade (thanks, Mary!)!

This thing is so cool. Especially because I never really scoop ice cream as much as I shovel it out of the container, aha.

For my birthday I got a matching whale towel set!

Aside from the happy whales hanging out with me in the morning, these have got to be the most absorbent towels I have ever used.  I just have to be super careful not to bleach them and turn those beautiful blue whales into faded or discolored… whales… I guess they would still be whales.

And I found this gorgeous fabric at a cute little fabric store on the Cape:

I’ve already started some projects with them!

Hope you’ve all been well! I’ve been busy figuring some things out but it’s done consuming my life, at least for the time being :)

Wednesday Whale Love!

That’s right, it’s Wednesday again! Already! And check these neat whale finds I… found… :)

Cute little whale gift boxes. Think of the candies and trinkets you could fill them with!

This awesome little print:

This bracelet is beautiful! And customizable you say? Oh, yes please! I don’t wear bracelets too much anymore, but rest assured. I would rock this baby every day.

Hope you’re having a fab Wednesday! I’ve got a sewing date with my cousin later! Can’t wait to see what creations we turn out today :)

Wednesday Whale Love!

Today is my Gramma’s birthday! She would have been 76. (This is my Mom’s mom, not my Dad’s mom.) Growing up, my Gramma was always sewing and crocheting and knitting and baking, and I know my love of crafts stems from spending so much time with her. And because she was the crocheting queen, today’s Wednesday Whale Love is crochet-themed!

I bet you were wondering where that was going. And yes, nearly half of my family was born in February. I guess May is just a busy month for us.

Check out these potholders!

I don’t know that my Gramma made potholders. I think she mostly stuck with blankets, sweaters, and hats.

This tissue box cover is adorable:

If only I didn’t already have a whale-embellished square one! And hadn’t spent a fortune on those special square boxes of tissues! J/k, I love my tissue box. My friend Traci got it for me!

And this amazingly detailed humpback whale pattern!

Now, I’m not a crocheter. My Gramma taught me once, swore I’d never forget, and I forgot almost instantly. And I have no interest in it because it’s tedious and I can’t watch Netflix while I do it. But if there was ever a reason to learn, this whale would be it!

Hope your Wednesday isn’t too chilly :)

Wednesday Whale Love #60

While hunting for a birthday present for my brother, I happened upon a boat load of beautiful whale accessories on Etsy! So strange that that happened…

This really neat necklace:

This cute little brooch:

I actually received a similar one in the mail last year around my birthday! I wear it on my jacket :)

And this cool bag:

I can make my own totes, but I love how SBMathieu makes her own stamps! Her whole shop is cute, check it out if you have a few minutes!

Wednesday Whale Love #59

Over a year ago I bought the CUTEST whale ring EVER from this adorable little shop on Etsy called Pica Pica Press.

The girl (lady? woman? I’m terrible with ages/ the appropriate title for people) who ran it, Laura, made amazing jewelry with all sorts of neat designs. This was my all time favorite ring and I wore it all the time, even though I got that little flipper caught in my tights a lot and ruined many pairs.

Just recently, I lost it! I have no idea where I put it and can’t find it anywhere. And Pica Pica Press is CLOSED so I can’t get a new one! Devastating.

Which leads me to this week’s Wednesday Whale Love: the search for the replacement whale ring!

First choice replacement by Fifth Heaven:

I like this one because it’s not too big, is silver colored, and you can order it in half sizes (as I can wear a 7.5 ring on, like, 5 of my fingers).

Second choice replacement by Christine Domanic:

I like that it has Moby Dick in the name, aha. But I can’t tell how thick the band is because it isn’t shone on a finger and I really need that visual. Plus you can only get it in whole sizes and that might not work for me.

Third choice by I Adorn U:

I’m not sure if this is silver or brass, and also it’s WAY EXPENSIVE! It does comes in half sizes (7.5), but that tail looks kind of pointy.

So, in conclusion, if you happen across any whale rings in your internet travels, please share them with me! Also, my birthday is coming up so if you wanted to just buy it for me, well, that would be cool too (again, size 7.5).

:)

Hope you’re staying warm on this frosty Wednesday!

Today we’ll be redecorating my imaginary living room!

This lovely rug to go under the coffee table:

These beautiful pillows to liven up the sofa:

And this adorable shadow box to decorate those plain, boring walls:

Have you come across any interesting whale finds lately?

Here are a few things I’ve received recently that I forgot to share last week :)

My friend Kerry sent me this amazing brass paper weight. He’s so small yet so heavy!

Megan and J got me this pencil sharpener! If you put a (blue) pencil in it, it looks like a water spout. So cute and practical!

And my friend Peter, who I do the craft fairs with, found this awesome stamp of a momma and baby whale.

Hope the rest of your week flies by :)
