Hello. I’m Kerry and this is me holding a sword!
(I regrettably did not purchase this sword.)
Welcome to The Tragic Whale! I originally started this blog as a showcase for my Tragic Whale Stories, which were born from my senior project in college. But it’s super hard to write whale stories all the time, plus I like sewing better. So now I basically just share pieces of my life.
Uhm, I guess I should talk about some things that are important to me? My brothers, for sure. Not so much because we’re close and supportive of each other, but because they’re excellent trollers. This is us (drunk) in a photo booth:
I love to sew. I have a great time thinking up ideas and working out how to bring them to life. Like this little whale bag:
I put most of the things I make in my Etsy shop, but because I work full time it’s just a hobby. Sometimes I think about what it would be like to sew full time, but then I have to ask myself: would I still love it?
Some other things about me:
Once, I was sick of washing my hair. It was super fried and took massive amounts of deep conditioner every day just to get a comb through it. So I cut it all off.
I work for the state of Massachusetts. I tell myself it’s to collect material for my memoirs.
I’m a mountain dew enthusiast, and have been known to bring my own soda to friends’ houses, restaurants, and weddings.
But what else can you expect to find on The Tragic Whale?
Shameless self promotion of my Etsy shop. Poorly-drawn cartoons of my family and work. Recipes I didn’t quite follow. And Wednesday Whale Love, where I try to brighten up your week with a few happy whales!
The Tragic Whale is a personal blog and all opinions and interests expressed on it are my own. In case you were wondering!

Your blog is so cute! Too bad it took me a year to find it. I have a lot of catching up to do!
Love the blog, keep it up girl.
Thanks, Dave :)
Whales are awesome. But… why is your tragic?
Anyway, thank you so much for the great presents! Now not only I can speak every language of the world but I don’t need to eat frozen crap anymore :)
Happy Holidays!
You’re welcome! I guess I should update my “About” page, but I originally started this blog as a place to share my Tragic Whale Stories with friends who I don’t see very often (and the stories are tragic because all the whales die in the end). But it sort of turned into a crafting, comic, shop driven blog and I just went with it. :)
Oh. I guess most whales do have a tragic life. Too bad, such beautiful creatures
